GENERAL QUESTIONS

1. What are the benefits of publishing in EMCR?

International sharing – EMCR and its readership are international and, therefore, your valuable work and data can be shared with variety of readers across the world. As you can see from the nationalities of the board members, EMCR is an international journal. EMCR would properly evaluate papers based on monitoring work and if they would be worthwhile to be shared with people in the world, they would be published in EMCR.

Efficiency and speed – Refereed papers do not require re-writing or re-formatting, and swift publication decisions will be made for most papers on the basis of reviews already conducted, increasing publication speed and reducing burden of authors and reviewers.

Visibility – Open access can translate to higher readership, increased citations and greater visibility of your work. Articles published in EMCR are freely available to everyone in the world through J-Stage.

Compliance with open access mandates – EMCR allows authors to retain copyright, publishing under a Creative Commons License.

2. How do I submit my paper to EMCR?

You can submit your paper through ScholarOne from the journal’s homepage.

3. What electronic file types can I use to submit my paper?

Basically you can use Word file for text, PDF file for figures, and Excel file for tables. However, we can accept almost all types of files for your submission.

4. What is the peer review process?

A paper submitted to EMCR will be fully peer reviewed by qualified experts in the field selected by the handling editor. Editor-in-Chief will designate one of the Associate Editors as the handling editor. According to the suggestion by the handling editor, the Editor-in-Chief will then decide whether to accept, reject or request revisions based on the reviewers’ comments received.

EMCR implements an efficient peer review and production process to facilitate rapid publication.

5. What is the copyright policy for EMCR?

EMCR publishes articles under a Creative Commons License. Authors retain the copyright to their work and the public is allowed to reuse the content. You grant EMCR a license to publish the article and identify it as the original publisher. EMCR allows authors to comply with funder mandates from NC-NA or NC-ND which require their articles to be published under a CC-BY license.

6. Are the journals indexed in ISI, PubMed etc.?

EMCR will apply to abstract and indexing services that are appropriate for the journal, including ISI Web of Science.

7. How can I read articles in EMCR?

All articles are open access and published online through J-Stage and are immediately freely available to read, download and share. You can search for a specific article through common search engine such as Google scholar and Scopus and read it online and download the full PDF freely. Current, most viewed, and most cited articles in EMCR will be presented in the journal homepage.

8. What is the editorial structure for the journal?

EMCR has an Editor-in-Chief, Associate Editors and an editorial board consisting of experts in the fields that are included in the Aims and Scope of the journal. The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for ensuring the overall quality of the journal, making final accept/reject decisions with support from the Associate Editors and editorial board members.

9. How much is the Article Publication Charge for EMCR?

The Article Publication Charge (APC) is free in the first 5 years, i.e., 2020 – 2024, because of full support from Japan Society of Environmental Chemistry (JEC). After that, however, authors will bear APC.

10. What tools and resources are available to authors and readers of EMCR?

Because EMCR articles are published using a Creative Commons License, content is easy for readers and authors to share.
